Ensures that the proper condition and appearance of grounds, plants and foliage for assigned properties/facilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manages landscape and grounds staff to deliver expected service levels to the client within the prescribed budget. Coordinates work assignments among landscape and grounds staff, vendors, and contractors. Reviews backlogged work orders to ensure that assignments are completed. Reviews price quotes for the procurement of parts, services, and labor for projects. Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients. Responds to problems in a tactful and expedient manner. Attends client meetings for landscape and grounds matters. Inspects property landscape and grounds and generates inspection reports. Ensures needed corrective maintenance is documented and scheduled for repair as appropriate. Manages a goose harassment and control program through the use of a canine or other equally effective means. Includes canine training, handling, boarding and on-going care. Manages a property wildlife management program to include control of insects, rodents and wildlife on the property. Insects, rodents and wildlife shall be managed to desirable locations on the property only. Includes the management of vendors and contractors. Manages the maintenance and repair of landscape, snow removal and property fleet vehicles. Includes landscape mechanic, vendors and contractors. Manages a snow removal program to include the storage of bulk road salt and ice melt products, weather monitoring, scheduling of treatable events and associated communications. Prepares capital project budgets and operating budget reports. Prepares monthly operating budget variance reports. Codes accounts payable invoices to ensure correct cost center accounting classification. Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Minimum of five years of related experience and/or training. Previous Supervisory experience preferred. CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES Certified Arborist preferred. Certified Landscape professional preferred. Commercial Pesticide Applicator's license. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action. FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Excellent supervisory and organizational skills. Must possess competent knowledge of principles of sustained outdoor activity in seasonal weather conditions.
