Job Summary
Welcome to FCMS! We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our North Lancashire Wound Care Service team.
Contract: Fixed Term Contract ending 31st January 2026 with Full and Part time hours available.
Pay: £12.80 per hour with enhanced pay for weekends and bank holidays.
Base: Working in clinics across Lancaster and Morecambe.
Main Duties of the Job:
* Undertake wound assessments with support of trained clinicians for patients attending with simple wounds within their scope of practice.
* Post-operative care including suture and staple removal.
* Leg ulcer management, may require Doppler.
* Post-trauma skin tears, self-harm care.
* Cavity wounds management - packing.
* Burns management.
* Patient education including nutrition in relation to wound healing and scar management.

Job Responsibilities:
* Maintain good standards of communication both in written and oral form.
* Undertake aseptic technique when cleaning a wound and applying dressing.
* Support trained clinicians in the day-to-day running of the clinic.
* Take responsibility for the cleaning and stocking of clinical areas.
* Dispose of clinical waste safely.
* Complete order forms for supplies.
* Participate in service expansion when required.
* Document clinical interventions in patient records.
* Work collaboratively within a small team.
* Communicate with patients and carers in a polite manner.
* Ensure mandatory training is up to date.
* Stay informed about safeguarding issues.
* Contribute to infection control measures.
Education and In-Service Training:
* Be conversant with clinical computer systems used within the North Lancashire Wound Care Service.
* Attend relevant training and keep updated with mandatory training.
Person Specification:
Skills:
* Ability to work as a team member.
* Good communication skills.
* Basic IT skills.
Qualifications:
* NVQ level 3.
* Good standard of General Education.
Experience:
* Experience of wound care/community.
* Passion for working in wound care.
