Junior Buyer - Footwear & Accessories
Salary £27k to £45k DOE Location Peterborough Head Office Contracted Hours 37.5 hours a week - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm - Office Based

The Vacancy
What is the role
To implement the sourcing and buying strategy for Footwear & Accessories product, owning and supporting the delivery of agreed target KPI’s. Working in partnership with Buying Manager, Merchandiser and Footwear & Accessories tech team to plan and balance the range.
The role will be based at our Peterborough head office, Monday to Friday 9 to 5pm.
What you will do
1. Plan a commercial range with the Buying Manager
2. Negotiate with suppliers for best price whilst maintaining product integrity and standards in production
3. Ensure that supply base has the capability to meet requirements
4. Understand and contribute towards brand and product handwriting
5. Ensure that agreed levels of good, better and best product are bought
6. Meet deadlines within the buying calendar and adhere to the critical path
7. Set clear performance standards to self and team members
8. Present the range in Trading, selection, sign off and review meetings
9. Actively trade the department, review commitment against current sales performance and set action plan accordingly
10. Work with Footwear & Accessories tech team to take joint responsibility for fit and quality
11. Work across supply base / buying team to source and develop new product opportunities
12. Secure dates for product sign-off at appropriate points in the season
13. Understand profit and intake margin strategy focussing on achieved target margin
14. Manages key administrative duties for the Buying team from product concept to finished bought product.
15. Clearly and effectively communicates with all suppliers and internal departments in line with critical path.
16. Manages order raising process as and when required with Buying Manager / Director approval.
17. Manages sample process and organisation for the department in a timely fashion.
18. Manages garment approval process to achieve a commercial, saleable product.
19. Fulfil general ad hoc duties as required.
20. Deputising for Buying Manager / Director
21. Management of the critical path demonstrating proactive problem solving that meets deadlines.
22. Self-motivated clear understanding of market trends and customer profile and able to contribute knowledgeably to all meetings.
Additional Accountabilities
23. Assist in driving marketing and trading activity for the department.
24. Ensure personal development plan (PDP) is developed and kept live.
25. Undertake project work when required.
26. Develop and share best practise across the buying floor.
27. Ensure the communication of issues are raised to the Buying Manager / Director in a timely, consistent and appropriate format.

41. Experience of working within a Buying team environment, within a multiple brand retailer preferable
42. Strong commercial awareness and minimum of 2 years at Assistant Buyer Level
43. Tangible knowledge of putting together a profitable range
44. Effective communicator, presenter and team player.
45. Ability to adopt a flexible approach when required and to think swiftly.
46. Excellent time management and organisation skills.
47. Confident working in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritise projects.
