Muirhouse Youth Development Group is a young person focused community charity. We deliver high quality youth work, providing experiential education programmes, personal and social development, skills acquisition programmes, and vocational qualifications. At the heart of MYDG, we exist to support young people at key points in their life, this being where, when, and for whatever reason they choose.
This role involves leading and managing the Muirhouse Youth Development Group team to achieve strategic objectives, including developing and implementing the MY Development Plan, overseeing staff and volunteers, managing resources, and building partnerships. As Strategic Manager, you will collaborate with the MYDG Board to develop organizational strategies, ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures, and oversee the financial aspects of youth development work, including fundraising and budget management. You will represent MYDG, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and act as an inspiring role model for both young people and staff.
Experience / Qualifications: Prospective candidates must have, or be working towards, basic accreditation to deliver a physical activity programme – although training may be provided to suitable candidates; external agencies will be used for advanced activities.
Granton Youth took its services outside during the pandemic, and its success with young people in improving their skills, mental health, and wellbeing means it is now an integral part of the GY programme. GY is recruiting a youth worker with experience of delivering a physical activities programme for young people aged 11+. The successful candidate will develop and implement a physical activity programme to work with young people to coordinate and design a programme of outdoor/indoor activities, in conjunction with young people and networking with activity providers. The post holder will provide 1:1 mentoring for any young person identified as requiring additional support.
The post holder will work with team members to deliver appropriate programmes to support and motivate young people to participate in the provision, including planning, development, decision-making processes, and evaluation.

* HR / Employment Law - A Trustee with expertise in assisting in the review of HR policies and staff handbook as well as offering guidance on staffing and recruitment.
* Legal - A Trustee with the ability to help in confidently scrutinising contractual funding/ partnership delivery documents.
* Senior Leadership - A Trustee with leadership and service delivery experience in the charity or public sector, particularly within Family Support organisations.

The role will involve attending six board meetings per year, including preparation time. In addition, you may be invited to be involved in the Finance, Risk and Audit (FRA) subcommittee, depending on your skills and interests.

* Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline.
* Significant fundraising experience, which should include:
o scoping fundraising project development, including budgeting.
o growing and managing a portfolio of prospects including individuals, trusts, foundations, or statutory bodies.

o preparing solicitation plans.
o face-to-face major gift asks.
* Excellent networking and negotiation skills.

MYPAS promotes the health and wellbeing of young people across East Lothian and Midlothian and currently focuses on working in the areas of mental health, substance use, and LGBT+ support. MYPAS is a community-based organisation with charitable status and based in Dalkeith, Midlothian.
The postholder will be responsible for providing counselling to young people aged 12-18 within a holistic service. The postholder will also develop and promote further therapeutic work both within and outwith MYPAS.
Qualified to Diploma level (or equivalent) in a counselling therapeutic discipline, a member of a recognised professional body (e.g. BACP, COSCA) and have experience of working with young people, you will also be committed to delivering a service according to best practice and within community settings.
The postholder will work within a multi-disciplinary service and work effectively with other agencies in partnership settings. Contributing to the wider MYPAS service, the postholder will ensure that young people are worked with using a holistic approach through effectively linking the work of the Therapies team with other areas of MYPAS’ work as well as that of partner organisations.
This post may require regular evening and occasional weekend work.
