About the Role:
This school we are working with is looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to support students who need help managing their emotions and behaviour.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Provide relevant and appropriate support to students, on an individual or group basis, to enable them to access the curriculum as independently as possible.
2. Support the class teacher in organising the classroom, its resources, student groupings, and displays to provide a stimulating learning environment for students with SEMH/Complex Needs.
3. Assist the teacher in writing, updating, implementing, and evaluating documentation related to individual students.
4. Work collaboratively with the class teacher to plan for the safety of students, in line with risk assessments, while both on and off-site.
5. Produce appropriate and effective resources/teaching aids at the request of the class teacher and/or tutor.
6. Contribute as a member of the School's multi-professional team, ensuring good working relationships with colleagues.
7. Help implement developments that relate to the School Development Plan.
8. Work with and manage challenging behaviour, enabling learners to develop self-control.
9. Safeguard all learners and ensure their safety and wellbeing.
10. Liaise with staff from other departments to provide a consistent approach to all aspects of learner education.
11. Maintain regular communication and liaison both informally and in meetings to ensure a consistent approach to the education of learners.
Key Requirements:
* Experience and understanding of how to support young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
* References covering the last two years (no gaps).
* Hold a current DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
* The Right to Work in the UK.
Duties will include:
* Supporting and supervising educational games, sports, and craft activities.
* Helping children with their reading.
* Preparing the classroom for a lesson.
* Working with pupils in small groups and/or working 1:1 with children with additional needs.
* Putting together displays of children's work.
* Supporting teachers in managing class behaviour.
* Listening to children read, reading to them, or telling them stories.
* Helping children who need extra support to complete tasks.
* Supervising group activities.
