We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Administrator with strong administration and computing skills to join our friendly and supportive Community Nursing Team. The Hospice Community Nursing Teams provide palliative care support to adult patients and the people that are important to them at home. This role is a Part-time position, working 30 hours per week 9am to 5pm, Thursday to Sunday and is based at the hospice in Brentry. Although this role is being advertised as a part-time position, full-time opportunities would be considered.
Daily tasks include:
1. Talking to patients, families, and health professionals on the phone.
2. Completing outcomes from clinicians.
3. Accepting and processing referrals into the service.
4. Using EMIS Electronic Patient Record.
5. Using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
6. Updating our rostering system.
Main duties of the job
To support the community nursing teams with all aspects of administrative duties. This includes processing referrals, managing appointments and providing information to patients, carers and clinicians as required.

Job responsibilities
Communication:
1. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with a wide range of people, including outside agencies, sometimes requiring tact and persuasive skills where there may be barriers to understanding.
2. To manage telephone enquiries with patients and carers providing non-clinical advice or information.
3. Take personal details from people and upload onto the electronic patient record system (EMIS).
4. Exercise judgement when dealing with patient inquiries, analyze and resolve non-clinical patient problems.
5. Support distressed patients and carers in a supportive and empathetic manner.
6. To contact patients and carers to arrange, reschedule and cancel appointments.
7. Provide and receive routine and complicated information, including sensitive information.
8. Work within a multi-disciplinary environment ensuring effective communication with other team members.
9. Receive and open mail (paper and electronic) and distribute accordingly.
10. Type patient reports/correspondence/e-mails as required.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Evidence of O-Level/GCSE grades A*-C (9-4) or national level 2 functional skills equivalent in literacy & numeracy.
* NVQ2/QCF in administration or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
Experience
* Knowledge of the full range of routine and non-routine admin procedures.
* Excellent computer & IT skills to enable the production of reports and spreadsheets.
* Experience of working as part of a team.
* Experience of general office routine and systems.
* Administration experience in a health/social care setting.
* Experience of using the EMIS patient data system.
