Job overview
We are recruiting for a Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Practitioner (ISVA, IDVA equivalent) who shares our vision to provide outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
We seek a proactive and driven individual to collaborate closely with victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault, delivering exceptional advocacy and support to survivors and their children.
The job will involve working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols that prioritise the safety of survivors.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide advocacy and support to anyone affected by domestic abuse and sexual assault.
2. Respond promptly to patients referred to the service.
3. Assess the risk and support needs of victims and develop individual support plans.
4. Ensure safety plans are in place with the client’s agreement.
5. Liaise with the police, CPS, and other service providers on behalf of the client.
6. Support clients who do not wish to report to the police.
7. Identify and respond to safeguarding issues.
8. Conduct DASH risk assessments when appropriate.
9. Attend MARAC meetings when necessary.
10. Ensure clients are aware of their entitled services and advocate for them.
11. Make appropriate referrals for follow-up care.
12. Participate in training sessions for ENHT staff.
Person specification
Qualifications / Training
* GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English
* ISVA qualification and/or relevant experience
* IDVA qualification and/or relevant experience
Previous Experience and Knowledge
* Knowledge of the ISVA/ sexual assault practitioner role
* Knowledge of the IDVA/ Domestic abuse support practitioner role
* Knowledge of legal frameworks surrounding victims of sexual violence and domestic abuse
* Knowledge of the mental capacity act
* Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks for adults and children
* Knowledge of consent and information sharing legal frameworks
* Knowledge of local support services for patients
* Experience working as an ISVA or IDVA
* Experience of multi-agency working
* Experience attending MARAC
Skills
* Good communication and listening skills
* Ability to respond positively to change
* Ability to support patients with compassion and empathy
* Ability to manage your own workload
* IT literate, especially in Microsoft Office
