We are looking for a proactive, reliable and flexible Principle Consultant to join our Environmental team. A background in environmental consultancy and knowledge of the industry are essential in order to thrive in this role. You will take responsibility for the project management and technical leadership of contaminated land projects, environmental assessments and play a major role in the growth of this business stream for SOCOTEC. As part of your role you may also manage a team of junior Environmental Consultants and work within the wider environmental team assisting in delivery of technical and operational work. The base office will be in Reading. SOCOTEC has offices across England, Scotland and Wales and, as well as work in the local area, the role will entail providing support to other SOCOTEC offices as required; this may entail periods of time away from home and a full driving licence is essential. The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to): Taking technical and commercial responsibility for the on time and on budget delivery of contaminated land and environmental assessment projects within the context of a wider environmental team Generating new enquiries for contaminated land consultancy work and expanding the current SOCOTEC client base Proposal writing Interpretative reporting and technical checks of all reports issued Day to day management of work teams and development of the capability of current and new team members Delivery of all work safely and in line with SOCOTEC s safety policies and procedures Providing excellent customer service to existing and new clients Actively contribute towards the successful delivery of the Division s business plan and targets To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate: We re looking for a professional, dynamic and motivated individual with ability to work alone and as part of a team. Communicative, organised, flexible and committed Degree qualified in a relevant scientific discipline, membership of a relevant professional body and at least 10 years experience in contaminated land consultancy A good technical knowledge of the discipline and have a good knowledge of the relevant regulations, British Standards and other guidelines relating to contaminated land investigations and design Experience in human health and controlled waters DQRA, waste classification and asbestos in soils advice A demonstrable track record in project management, commercial management and client liaison Good IT skills and the ability to communicate effectively to a range of technical and non-technical audiences, both via concise, complete and accurate written communications and verbally About Environmental Our Environmental team is made up of many different specialists all operating in within different areas of expertise.
