EDT Manager – Emergency Duty Team – Children – Croydon Council
Fixed Term / Secondment (1 year) – 36 hours per week
Job Purpose
We are seeking a qualified and experienced EDT Manager to join us and support our service. It is an operational role responsible for the planning, delivery and development required at service level to contribute to achieving positive well-being and safety outcomes for children and families in need, including those in need of protection and those looked after and those requiring emergency housing. These outcomes are achieved through the leadership, management and quality assurance of a social work team which is responsible for fulfilling the council’s statutory requirements and goals in respect of:
1. The provision of an emergency duty social work service which operates in the evenings, weekends and on Bank Holidays.
2. Assessment of, and responding, to immediate needs, including those in need of protection.
3. Making recommendations about those children who need to become looked after.
4. Direct and immediate help where intervention is needed to keep children safe.
The Team Manager is responsible for the allocation and prioritising of work and on-site operational management of the business support team. As well as the responsibilities mentioned above if time and workload allows you will be required to assist the wider service with duties, including though not limited to auditing and other daytime responsibilities. The role involves developing, at an operational level, effective relationships with partner agencies in order to ensure the effective application of Croydon’s model of intervention, and to provide a joined-up response to the meeting of need.
Minimum Requirements
1. Qualified Social Workers who are Social Work England registered.
2. Experience of working in Emergency Duty Team.
3. Working knowledge of national policy, strategy and developments regarding children’s social care, and areas that impact on children’s social care.
4. Able to lead improvement in social work practice at an operational level through effective performance management.
5. Evidence of leading and managing operational change effectively.
6. Able to lead and manage in an operational area dealing with high risk and high complexity in a way that delivers good safeguarding and well-being outcomes for children and families.
7. Experience of managing and/or supervising childcare social workers in an area relevant to this particular service area with evidenced results of continuing practice and good outcomes for children.
