Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Consultant / CDM-Principal Designer Advisor to join our team, in which the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations and managing design safety across a variety of engaging projects.
You will be involved in supporting the Principal Designer function on various projects, collaborating closely with design teams, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations throughout the design and construction phases.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the design process, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations.
* Provide expert advice on health and safety risks during the design phase.
* Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project safety.
* Oversee a variety of small and large projects
* Conduct design reviews and hazard assessments.
* Prepare and maintain pre-construction information and health and safety files.
* Develop Construction Phase Plans for clients including Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
* Conduct site inspections and provide ongoing health and safety support to contractors and sub-contractors.
* Monitor statutory compliance for significant property-owning groups across the UK and Northern Ireland.
Requirements
* Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma Level (or equivalent) and working towards IOSH Chartered Membership.
* Experience in construction-related health and safety consultancy.
* Technical qualifications in construction, engineering, or architecture.
* Previous experience acting as a Principal Designer Advisor (PDA) or former CDM Coordinator is essential.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team.
* Strong knowledge of contractor support and H&S needs in a contracting context.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a team-oriented personality is essential.
* Innovative problem solver with the ability to develop bespoke solutions within the constraints of legislation.
* Willingness to travel within the UK, which may include long days and overnight stays as required.
* Possess a full and valid driving license.
Preferred Additional Experience
* Fire risk assessments.
* Water quality risk assessments and responsible person role.
* Training and development in health and safety practices.
* Conducting accident investigations.
* Statutory compliance audits of major assets.
* Familiarity with BIM and other design software is a plus.
