The role
As a Senior Project Manager - Future Programmes you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the projects and must be competent in managing key aspects of a project i.e. safety, scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality and resourced to achieve a project's agreed objectives. This scope of time, budget and requirement will be set by our customer via a contract to deliver Submarine delivery. The Senior Project Manager will be required to manage projects in complex situations, with independence and lead others. The individual will have working knowledge of programme and portfolio level tools and techniques.
Day-to-day, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible to the Head of Future Programmes who has overall accountability for the delivery of Projects to support Future Fleet Operations activities at Clyde including, but not limited to, Dreadnought, AUKUS, SSN(A), LTPA, EMP, UAG, Programme Euston and SWP.
1. Lead on Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality within the project.
2. Development of Project Documentations, including but not limited to, project plans, schedules, risk and assumptions registers, technical specifications in accordance with published processes.
3. Delivery of the project to the baseline performance, time and cost envelope in line with project and business success criteria.
4. Establishing, leading, and maintaining governance arrangements for the delivery of the project. Defining clear roles and responsibilities and accountabilities that align with the company Business Management System.
5. Accountable for planning and monitoring the programme (profit & loss); agree plans with the Sponsor and submit/present regular Monthly Review Reports indicating any deviations and corrective action taken.
6. Managing the customer interface and associated management of the internal and external stakeholders.
This role is full time 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Senior Project Manager
7. Significant experience within the UK Submarine programme or Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE)
8. Proven track record of managing projects in complex, dynamic environments
9. Proficient in the following competencies: Project Life cycles; Governance Arrangements; Financial Management; Business Case; Stakeholder engagement and communication management; Conflict resolution, and Leadership
Qualifications for the Senior Project Manager
10. Degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent
11. Project Management Qualification such as Association of Project Management (APM) RPP or PMQ.
12. Leadership and Management Certification
