We are working on behalf of a client who is seeking a motivated and detail-driven Accounts Assistant to join their expanding finance team workingpart-time (16 hours p/w) with a competitive salary. In this role, you will support a wide range of accounting activities, such as managing accounts payable and receivable, performing reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a solid grasp of basic accounting principles, the ability to work independently, and a collaborative approach to teamwork. What you'll do: Finance and Accounting: Process purchase invoices promptly and accurately. Manage credit control procedures. Complete weekly bank reconciliations. Oversee petty cash transactions. Prepare VAT returns and perform related reconciliations. Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts. Manage prepayments, accruals, and general journal entries. Reconcile monthly balance sheets. Track and review goods received but not invoiced accruals. Conduct intercompany balance reconciliations. Support annual audit preparation and provide documentation as needed. Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses. Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes. Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit-related inquiries. Address internal and external inquiries regarding financial transactions and reports. Reporting: Aged Debtors and Aged Creditors reports. Cash Flow Reporting. Actual vs Budget overhead analysis. Assist in the preparation of departmental reports. Payroll: Assist in preparing monthly staff timesheets for processing by the Finance Manager. Maintain records of staff holidays. Basic payroll knowledge required; experience with Brightpay is a plus but not mandatory. What you'll need: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Highly analytical and methodical approach to tasks. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in MS Excel is essential. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with Sage 200 is preferred, but not required.
