The role
We are seeking a talented, highly motivated individual for a Research Associate position within the Bristol Dental School at the University of Bristol. You will join an exciting research programme on the development of new self-disinfecting coating to reduce transmission of pathogens via touch surfaces, supervised by Prof Bo Su, Dr Nihal Bandara and Prof Andrew Davidson from the Bristol Dental School and School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, respectively.
What will you be doing?
1. The project will involve materials formulation and coating fabrication.
2. Microbiological characterisation across a wider spectrum of bacteria, fungi and viruses linked to infection.
3. You will carry out material/coating design and formulation of self-disinfecting coatings under visible light.
4. Conduct antimicrobial testing using relevant international standards and methodologies.
You should apply if
You should have a PhD degree in materials, chemistry, engineering or microbiology. Knowledge and experience in both antimicrobial materials and microbiology characterization are desirable.

Work pattern: Full time / Monday - Friday / 35 hours per week
