An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen to join the safeguarding adults team at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust working at the Southport Hospital site.
The post holder will provide a comprehensive, professional and effective administrative service to the team, including the processing of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) applications. The role will also include taking minutes at meetings and data collection. Flexibility and confidentiality are key requirements of this role and a calm and friendly manner when dealing with enquiries and external organisations.

Responsibilities:
1. Provide comprehensive confidential administrative service to the Assistant Director of Nursing Safeguarding and the Safeguarding Adults Team, including the processing of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) authorisations.
2. Contact external bodies, clinical, nursing, management, executive and clerical staff.
3. Cross cover may be required for the safeguarding adults and safeguarding children administrative support when colleagues are absent.
4. Receive complex and highly sensitive communications on behalf of the Adult’s Safeguarding Team and advise, prioritise and share information appropriately.
5. Attend team and departmental meetings as necessary.
6. Work flexibly to enable delivery of the services.
7. Undertake any other routine duties that may be required and are appropriate to the post holder’s band, experience, and competence.
Administrative Responsibilities:
1. Provide a comprehensive administrative service to the Adult’s Safeguarding Team and Associate Director of Safeguarding.
2. Maintain the administration of the services, including maintaining databases, data input, ensuring all data held is accurate and kept up to date.
3. Confident use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other IT programmes as required.
4. Process the daily Deprivation of Liberty Authorisations and maintain the relevant databases.
5. Retrieve patient information as directed by the Safeguarding Team to support information sharing as required with the Local Authority and partners.
6. Prepare letters, e-mails, and general communications.
7. Prepare and distribute agendas for meetings, take minutes of meetings, and distribute minutes and other papers.
8. Receive communication in relation to Trust meetings attended by the above leads.
9. Assist in the development of policies and protocols relevant to the services.
10. Provide data for the quarterly and annual returns for local Safeguarding Adult Boards, the Integrated Care Board, and the Care Quality Commission.
Teaching & Training Responsibilities:
1. Support the team in working towards the most cost-effective service always prioritising patient safety.
Research & Audit:
1. Provide data that contributes to the Safeguarding audits.
2. Support the delivery of audit and survey material.
