Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Diabetes Team as an Administration Assistant. Post holders will be required to provide an efficient administrative service to the clinicians and their teams.
The successful candidate will work within the Outpatient Team but also have the ability to work independently. They will be required to follow Policies and Procedures.
The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility, reliability and must have an organised approach to work.

Main duties of the job
This role involves working closely with patients, medical and nursing staff. Post holders will be required to provide an efficient face to face reception service to patients.
The role will include all face to face reception duties – check in patients / check out patients and make appointments.
The ability to work independently and follow the policies and procedures for your department is essential. The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility, reliability and must have an organised approach to work.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To support the provision of an efficient admin and clerical service within the operational services department.
* To ensure patient documents are prepared, updated and available in a timely manner.
* Provide information to patients, relatives and staff.
* Deal with telephone enquiries promptly.
* To ensure that data input is amended as necessary.

Skills
* IT skills to include office software packages
* Keyboard skills and Text Processing ability.
* Good communication skills both written, verbal and telephone skills.
* NHS software packages - Knowledge of SystmOne, eRecord
Qualifications/ Knowledge
* English and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent (GCSE 9 - 4 or D-E or Functional/Key Skills Level 2).
* Experience working in a patient/public environment in an administration or clerical role.
* Previous experience working within the NHS.
