Job overview
We are looking for an experienced Pathology Services Manager to join our team in RUH Pathology.
This is an exciting new position in which you will join the Pathology leadership team comprising the Clinical Director, Cell Pathology and Blood Sciences Laboratory Managers. Together we will deliver an excellent Pathology Service that is focused on the patients we serve and the hospital services we support. We will support and develop our staff, embrace new innovations and ensure value for money. This is initially a fixed term position but we are working towards a long term commitment.
Our Pathology department comprises the disciplines of Clinical Biochemistry, Point of Care, Cellular Pathology, Haematology and Transfusion, Immunology and Infection Sciences. We have an on-site mortuary. We have approximately 150 highly trained members of staff and a budget of 18 million. Our Laboratories are accredited to UKAS standards ISO 15189. We have a managed services contract with Beckman Coulter and digital systems include Ultra LIMS, ICR ordercomms, Oracle/Cerner EPR and Fujifilm Digital systems.
Main duties of the job
We will expect the candidate to manage staff groups, be able to deliver change and quality improvement projects as well as represent Pathology across the Trust and across different systems we support. We are part of BSW ICB and the West of England Pathology Network with both having far-reaching diagnostic strategies that will require implementation. The post holder will require experience at a senior level and a track record of delivering benefits within the NHS.
We do not need you to have Pathology experience, but do need someone who is motivated to learn and is able to work with our highly skilled teams. We are looking for someone who can provide leadership and management support to our Scientific Managers and Clinical teams.
