Job Description:
We are looking to appoint a Practice Director in the Networks and Drainage Solutions (N&DS) practice, part of the wider Assets and Technology practice in Infrastructure. The Networks and Drainage Solutions practice is a rapidly growing 270+ person practice with teams located across the UK incorporating expertise across a range of disciplines including Urban Drainage Modelling (Waste), Clean Water Networks, Transportation Drainage, Storm Water Management & Green Infrastructure and Drainage & Wastewater Management Planning (DWMP). The Practice is managed by the Practice Leadership Team including regional Practice Managers.
AtkinsRéalis is renowned as the leading capability in Networks and Drainage Solutions, both in the UK and overseas. Our recent successes in securing frameworks with the nine largest UK water companies as part of the AMP8 programme has put us in pole position to not only consolidate, but to grow aggressively in this market. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to fully maximise your broad range of technical knowledge, interpersonal and client relationship skills within an environment where further progression will be very much supported and encouraged.
An intrinsic part of the success of the Practice is the close working relationship with our offshore Global Technical Centre (GTC). Approximately half of all work undertaken by the Practice is undertaken by the GTC, with close technical and commercial oversight from the N&DS team in the UK. It is not an understatement to say that the GTC's success is our success. Ensuring that this delivery model works is a key part of the Practice Director role.
As a key member of the Assets and Technology Practice Leadership Team (PLT), you will be comfortable in taking the lead on projects, providing the appropriate technical guidance and professional challenge to further develop your team, as well as making a real contribution to the success of the wider AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure business through our significant internal and external markets.
The Practices are the 'technical powerhouse' that forms the foundation of the AtkinsRéalis organisation. As Practice Director, you will work collaboratively to lead our people, exceed client expectations, drive innovation and ensure technical excellence.
Responsibilities:
* Establish the people resources required to meet our clients' growing and rapidly expanding requirements, build an agile and flexible workforce through permanent and contingent staff, supply chain and our Global Technology Centre in India.
* Transform the core of what we do in N&DS and develop new growth service lines that deliver the outcomes our customers need and create keen advantage for AtkinsRéalis.
* Develop the sales culture of the team, promoting the external perception of the team with customers, taking the team to higher degrees of influence with client C Suites.
* Guide our people through the technical and behavioural change necessitated by advances in information management, automation, intelligent systems and the Net Zero Carbon and sustainability agendas.
* Engage with clients, support our people to win and deliver work, ensure robust management of bids and projects to achieve the outcomes expected by AtkinsRéalis and our customers.
* Through effective direction and collaboration with the regional practice management team, ensure the operational performance of the Practice and contribute to our performance and growth targets.
* Inspire and enthuse our people through effective engagement, develop talent and enable career progression, ensure safety and wellbeing.
Requirements:
* Background in the delivery of projects across a range of sectors.
* Digitally savvy and entrepreneurial, able to create an enterprise culture with proven experience in the development of services through innovation, technology and new business models.
* Outward focused, experience of successfully developing client relationships with an effective network spanning clients, business partners and other stakeholders.
* Able to create and motivate a high performing team, with demonstrable evidence of enhancing culture and leading people through change.
* Commercially astute with a track record in creating sustainable P&L performance.
* Previous experience of working in a senior leadership team, able to create win-win collaboration outcomes in a matrix environment.
* Available to travel across the UK and overseas as required.
