Main duties of the job
The appointee will be expected to manage Medical retinal and uveitis patients; clinics will be a mix of face-to-face and virtual reviews. NNUH is an acute trust, and the appointee will also be involved in the management of presentations to their service requiring urgent care. The MR team sees around 1000 patients per month, with 99% of these appointments being undertaken face-to-face. They also undertake MR injection clinics with an average of 680 attendances per month. Typically, the appointee would be expected to see 4-6 new patients and 8-9 follow-up patients per face-to-face clinic, in addition to supervising other doctors, optometrists, and specialist nurses, and undertaking MR review clinics with an average template of 27 follow-up patients.
The uveitis service currently has the capacity to see around 70 patients per month based on 2 new and 6 follow-up appointments per week.
The theatre lists undertaken in ophthalmic theatres will be local anaesthetic cataract lists, with the aim to see 8 or more patients per list, depending on complexity.
