Purpose of the Role
To lead and manage commercial teams in all commercial aspects of allocated portfolio of multidisciplinary rail projects from conception through to final account and close out, delivering maximum commercial results.
Person Specification
1. Quantity Surveying qualification, with Professional Qualification preferred
2. Good Microsoft Package skills- Word and Excel
3. Experience of working with a Costs system
4. Driving license
5. Good communication skills
6. Ability to work with colleagues and engender good working relationships
7. Understanding of all rail disciplines and interface management
8. Previous experience working on construction projects in a management position
9. Experience or knowledge of negotiation
10. Knowledge of contract procedures and administration including NEC, ICE, MF/1 and JCT
11. Ideally experience of working for a contractor in a client facing environment

Key Responsibilities
15. Actively participate in setting the commercial strategy across the Rail Systems Division
16. Deputise for Head of Commercial as and when required
17. Lead, manage, develop, and train commercial teams across a portfolio of projects
18. Embed commercial focus and best practise across each whole project team
19. Lead on all contractual matters from inception to close out via in depth understanding of the contract and its implications for profit delivery
20. Proactively drive the recording of all contractual entitlements, ensure timely notification of events and accurate pricing and substantiation of change
21. Establish and maintain rigorous cost controls including early warning systems and provide robust accurate financial and management reports on each project
22. Provide procurement support to ensure each project is delivered safely, timely, at least cost and to optimal quality
23. Deliver contractually agreed cash flow
24. Build client relationships and promote effective ways of working with the project and with the client
25. Negotiate and agree contractual disputes and final accounts within DFA levels
