We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to provide overall clinical and managerial leadership for the Psychological Professions staff within the Acute Adult Inpatients service in Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT). This service supports the recovery of people between the ages of 18 to 65 years who require a period of in-patient assessment, formulation and intervention focused on complex emotional needs & /or psychosis.
The role will hold overall responsibility for the governance and delivery of psychological assessments, interventions and trauma-informed care across in-patient services. The post-holder will work clinically into the Welland centre, supporting the team to ensure that admissions are goal-focused, person-centred, engaging families and networking people into resources within their communities. The role will also involve providing managerial and clinical supervision to Psychological Professions Staff across both in-patient sites.
As the Lead Psychologist in this area, the role would involve developing a recruitment and retention strategy for psychological professions staff within in-patient services, as well as working with the Clinical Director, Assistant Director and Head of Service to provide overall leadership across adult in-patient services. Any experience of, or wish to pursue training in, the role of multi-professional Approved/Responsible Clinician would be welcomed.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide highly developed specialist psychological assessments, formulations and related interventions to support people experiencing an in-patient admission as part of their recovery journey.
2. To support the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that admissions are goal-focused, person-centred, engaging families and networking people into resources within their communities.
3. To provide supervision to other clinical staff as required.
4. To work as part of the senior leadership team within the acute pathway, supporting developments in co-production and related service development.
5. To work with other Consultant grade Psychologists across other specialties, and other senior managerial and clinical staff in the Care Delivery Pathway as required to integrate and co-ordinate care to support service user recovery.
6. Having presence at multi-agency meetings to support the care of in-patients with the most complex needs, incorporating formulation of their presentation to guide decision making around discharge and transition.
7. Working with the senior leadership team to improve the service user pathway for established community programmes, such as Structured Clinical Management, ensuring consistency across the county, as well as transition from inpatient to community services as regards access to psychological therapy.

In addition, a relocation package is available up to £8,000, if the successful postholder relocates to Northamptonshire and meets other eligibility criteria. This is subject to approval.
