Part-Time Administrator – Responsible for Reception Location: Hackney, East London Salary: Scale Point 21–25 (Pro Rata: £10,396 – £11,378 | FTE: £30,543 – £33,429) Contract: Part-time, Term Time Only Working Hours: 14:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday Start Date: May/June 2025 Smart Teachers is currently recruiting for a professional and highly organised Reception Administrator to join the front office team of a thriving secondary school in East London. This afternoon-only role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for supporting young people in an educational setting. The Role: Acting as the main point of contact on reception during afternoon hours Greeting and signing in all visitors in line with safeguarding protocols Handling incoming calls, parent and public enquiries in a professional manner Managing post, deliveries, and student item drop-offs Logging and storing confiscated items, ensuring secure collection Creating accurate records, managing visitor badges, and preparing event paperwork Supporting the wider admin team with regular administrative duties including mail merges, labelling, photocopying, and database updates Assisting with event organisation and large-scale mailings Carrying out First Aid when required (training provided) The School: A high-achieving and inclusive secondary school in Hackney Modern facilities and a supportive leadership team Known for its culture of kindness, high expectations and a welcoming environment for staff, students and visitors Located close to excellent transport links Requirements: Experience in an admin or customer service role (school-based experience desirable) Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Excellent verbal and written communication A friendly, professional and proactive attitude An understanding of safeguarding procedures and confidentiality The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above preferred) About us: Smart Teachers is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
