Based at our UK Distribution Centre, the Copacking Shift Operations Manager role involves managing and developing copacking resources by leading, coaching, and training staff to maximise efficiency while prioritising safety.
The position requires fostering collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders to identify improvement initiatives and optimise copacking operations.
Responsibilities include overseeing all copacking activities, ensuring production targets are met, and supporting resource planning to control costs. The role also leads processes and system improvements, maintains health and safety compliance, and manages site security and safety protocols as a key stakeholder for the site. Additionally responsible for managing the performance of agency workers and ensuring effective resource deployment.
This is a Safety critical role as defined within the Major Accident Prevention Policy (MAPP) embedded within the COMAH Safety Report.
This is a 2 year Fixed Term Contract
Your Tasks
Management & development of copacking resources
* To develop and create an empowered workforce who actively identify improvement ideas.
Stakeholder Focus
* Collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders (Transport / warehouse operation / Demand and Supply / Gifting / Suppliers / Health and Safety / Quality) to support the identification of mutually beneficial improvement initiatives.
Management of copack Operation
* Manage all copacking activities (going from 1 shift to potentially 3 shifts in peak time) to ensure all products are produced according to target to achieve on time in full in a safe way.
Processes and Systems
* Support and lead projects for the development of copacking processes and systems.
Resource Budget & Planning
* Responsible for maintaining the effective deployment of resources at all times to ensure all copacking operational costs are optimized and in line with the relevant allocated resource plan. Responsible for implementing resource plans, on a weekly / monthly basis which ensures the copack operation is run in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Health & Safety
* The Holford Way Distribution Centre site is an Upper Tier COMAH Operator. Leadership and supervision is crucial to ensuring safety at the site. Proactive Leadership inspections need to be completed, along with the positive enforcement of rules and safe working practices across the site. Management of task related training is crucial, in addition to the close working relationship with the SHE & Facilities Team.
Your Profile
* Min 5 years’ experience in the shift or operations management
* Proactive with identifying problems, finding root causes, and providing solutions.
* Profound understanding of Supply Chain and Logistics related processes and principles.
* Preferred qualification in Safety and Health: IOSH or preferred NEBOSH General Certificate.
* Experienced in leading others with the capability to inspire.
* A “can do” attitude, high degree of self-motivation, initiative, thinking ahead and driving results, leads by example.
* Good ability to communicate with a wide range of personalities.
* An analytical mind with high level of attention to detail, accuracy as well as ability to prioritize.
* Computer literate i.e. proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Power point).
* SAP experience preferred
* Good knowledge of Lean Management principles
