Job Description
Key areas of responsibility comprise: Leadership: *Contribute to vision, strategy, objectives, and execution of the business as a member of both the Executive and Management teams.*Lead, develop and manage the Finance team.*Responsible for delivering the strategic objectives for Finance, including ensuring that the business is adequately funded*Provide a financial framework to support the business. Implementing and executing the necessary processes to enable business operations and support its continued growth. Technical: *Oversight and delivery of a prompt and accurate month-end close, including all necessary reconciliations and accounting adjustments.*Manage group financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual, including consolidated accounts, and commentary as well as the presentation of results at monthly management and board meetings.*Coordinate and prepare the annual budget and re-forecasts, update department cost rates and standard costs. Enabling the business to maintain a forward financial view to inform business planning.Use financial and commercial insight and analysis to drive financial planning and recommendations to executive and management teams. Support the board, executive and management team with the development of business plans.*Manage the year-end close and the preparation and audit of the statutory accounts. Consult with the auditors on the timing and scope of the audit. Manage and resolve audit queries and ensure the accounts are filed by the required deadline. Ensuring on time filing of statutory accounts with Company's House.*Oversee cashflow management including treasury management across multiple currencies*Manage submission of claim for R&D Tax Credit, liaising with tax advisers and internal R&D staff as required.*Lead the annual insurance renewal programme ensuring best value and appropriate cover is in place*Ensure that the company and its subsidiaries maintain a high standard of internal control and that transactions are properly authorised in compliance with the Authorisation Matrix.*Maintain and update the company's Risk Matrix.*Preparation of capital expenditure proposals for major projects for review by the Board.*Ensuring that the company employs an appropriate accounting framework, and that cost models and cost rates are appropriate*Generation of internal financial and other reports from business information systems Stakeholder Management: * Key business partner in all financial, commercial, and strategic decisions and issues* Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners and other stakeholders including but not limited to the bank, auditors, and insurance brokers.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Financial Controller should have:
3. A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
4. Professional certification such as CIMA/CA or ACCA or similar will be considered a plus.
5. Proven background in finance management.
6. Good communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
7. Excellent business acumen and a pragmatic approach.
8. Strong leadership qualities and a team-focused approach.
