Job summary
We'd love to hear from you if you are passionate about playing a critical part in keeping the Port running smoothly. This role would suit someone with experience in asbestos management and driving safety improvements in the day-today delivery of work activities.
* Undertake the role of Appointed Person Asbestos on behalf of the Port:
- Prepare and maintain the Asbestos Management Plan
- Plan and manage asbestos surveys and inspections, maintain & update the Asbestos Register.
- Appoint Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractors to undertake removal and/or remedial works, and to undertake surveys and periodic inspections.
- Technical oversight and supervision of project works
- Prepare training material and provide training to Port staff and stakeholders
* Undertake broader H&S activities:
- Promote H&S initiatives and act as an internal H&S Engineering advisor.
- Drive improvements in processes to reduce health & safety risks. Liaise with stakeholders to ensure engagement and commitment.
- Review RAMS, and undertake site inspections to identify opportunities
- Recommend improvements to engineering tasks
Skills and Qualifications
* Technical, construction, building or trade background
* Qualified in P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings
* Relevant H&S management qualification e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS or similar.
* Conversant with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and Health & Safety Guidance (HSG) publications applicable to Asbestos.
* Understanding of Risk Management and compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards, along with working knowledge of CDM 2015.

Salary: up to £40k DOE
