This is a part-time, reduced year role: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.
We are looking for a Specialist Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for Challenging Behaviours and Visual Impairments to support our PMLD and Complex Needs department.
The Vine is a department with over 78 learners with complex needs and behaviours that can challenge. We deliver a varied curriculum to meet each of our learners' individual needs in line with their EHCPs. Our highly skilled team takes pride in developing our learners' personal and preparation for adulthood skills to prepare them for their future life. We have a strong emphasis on working as a team, offering mutual support and flexibility while striving for the highest standards for our learners. Our ultimate goal is to enable our learners to become as independent as possible and lead a happy, fulfilled life.
What You Will Do
* Coordinate, deliver and support therapies outlined in learners' EHCPs.
* Lead sessions to learners in line with the objectives of the curriculum and their EHCP outcomes.
* Create resources to engage and develop learners' skills and upload evidence to Navigate.
* Support principles and practical skills to help our learners along their journey into adulthood.
* Assess and review the progress the learners make and provide feedback to help them develop their abilities and understanding.
* Work as part of a team to create a nurturing, positive environment for the learners.
About You
* Have English and Mathematics at Level 2 or above and a willingness to improve in one or both disciplines to level 3 or above.
* Trained or willing to be trained in Visual Impairment and supporting behaviours that challenge.
* Desirable skills and knowledge on caring for young people and adults with complex needs and PMLD.
* Apply restorative practice to communications with learners and colleagues and be a proactive, flexible and supportive team member.
* Experience in ensuring that care and support is delivered within the guidelines of the college-wide quality assurance policies.
