Job Title: Senior Quality Nurse Children’s Outpatients

Location: UHNM – Royal Stoke Hospital
Hours of Duty: 28.5 hrs per week
Managerially accountable to: Senior Sister
Professionally accountable to: Matron, Associate Chief Nurse
Key Relationships:
All members of the Directorate Management Team, Administration and clerical staff, Medical, nursing and midwifery staff and other staff within the Directorate/Trust as appropriate. External contacts, relevant to the nature of the work of the Directorate/Trust, including patients and visitors as appropriate.
Main duties of the job
The Senior Quality Nurse within the Child Health Department supports the Senior Sister and Directorate Management team in the delivery of the Service Level Agreement for Children’s Services.
The Senior Quality Nurse works closely with the Senior Sister in the delivery of evidence based practice; ensuring patients receive safe and effective patient care to meet the Directorate & Trust safety agenda and matching parent and family expectations.
The Senior Team work in close partnership with the Consultants and Nurse Specialists to ensure all patients receive a quality service when accessing the department and will develop care pathways, PGD’s guidelines and policies to support this working with the Lead Nurse for Quality for the ward area.
The Senior Quality Nurse will Support the Senior Sister and Deputies for the area ensuring that an affective and skilled workforce is available to deliver the services within the clinical area.

Person specification
Essential Qualifications
* Registered Children’s Nurse on NMC Register
* Diploma in Nursing
* Evidence of degree level study in health/nursing related studies
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
* Minimum of 2 years post registration experience to include 1 year of management/leadership experience in the Acute Setting
* ENB 998 /Mentorship level 3 or equivalent or experience of teaching in the clinical areas
* Evidence of on-going professional education in a specialist area
* Formal teaching to groups of staff
Personal Qualities
* Able to use own initiative
* Ability to work as part of a team
