Because we are in a rural area, a driving licence and own vehicle is essential for the role as we operate over two sites. Hours: You will work 1500 hours per year, this will be made up of Full time hours March to November, weekends only in November & December. There will be no expected working hours during January and February. As this is an annualised role the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. Salary: £19,110 per year (£24,843 FTE) Duration: This is a fixed term contract ending the end of February 2026, with the possibility of becoming permanent. Interview date: w/c 27th January Potential start date: 24th Feb 2025 What it's like to work here Reporting to Food and Beverage Manager, whilst managing up to 5 team members. There will be an element of cooking in this role. Devil's Cauldron tea-room serves hot and cold drinks, light bites, hot lunches, bakes, and cream teas. Whilst Waterfall tea-room, is a takeaway offer including hot and cold drinks, snacks, and bakes. This steep-sided river gorge, carved into the western edge of Dartmoor, has been drawing visitors in search of the picturesque waterfall since Victorian times. Around every corner the River Lyd plunges, tumbles, swirls and gently meanders as it travels though ancient oak woodland, abundant with wildlife. Hiking down into the gorge is a challenging and rewarding adventure, be prepared for strenuous climbs and rugged ground - sturdy footwear with good grip is recommended. There are two main walking trails. Explore the ancient woodland and railway to take in the 30m-high Whitelady Waterfall. Or descend into the deepest part of the gorge and brave the Devil’s Cauldron pothole on a platform over the river. The gorge is filled with temperate rainforest, which is now a globally rare habitat. It’s designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its geology, flora and fauna. If you have any questions about this role please contact .uk What you'll be doing As Food and Beverage Assistant Manager, you’ll be working closely with the Food and Beverage Manager. You’ll be helping to look after the entire operation, keeping consistently high standards in the team, in the outlets, and in the food and drink we prepare and serve. You’ll always have an eye on ways to improve service and standards for our visitors. You’ll support the team to help build a great place to work. This could include helping with recruiting and training new people or developing the team. You’ll make sure that the team follow all relevant legislation and National Trust policies. There is also an element of cooking and serving in this role. You’ll be setting and achieving financial targets to increase income and profits. This could be by driving sales through controlling resources and achieving the best possible customer service. We’ll give you an induction that fits the job, and training in allergens and food safety, plus any mentoring needed to help you in your role.
