Enterprise Financial Controller (UK&I)
This role sits within the Global Workplace Solutions (“GWS”) segment of CBRE in the central Controllership finance team looking after the UK & Ireland (“UK&I”) business, which has an annual turnover of circa $3bn.
This role sits in the Business Partnering team in Controllership and is a high-profile position being the conduit between Business / Client Finance in the Enterprise Accounts sub-segment and Controllership. This role is a maternity cover fixed-term contract.
Responsibilities
1. In conjunction with the “Local” sub-segment Financial Controller, manage the team of Financial Accountants.
2. Forge strong relationships with Business Finance leadership within the sub-segment, with the aim that Controllership and Business Finance are seen as one team.
3. Attend all Business Finance meetings necessary in order to fully understand the performance and balance sheet of the sub-segment (e.g. month-end performance reviews, project / contract / balance sheet reviews).
4. Work with the other sub-segment Financial Controller to share information about the GWS business performance as a whole.
5. Support Business Finance on technical accounting matters using expertise within Controllership to provide accurate guidance.
6. Develop knowledge of sub-segment processes and identify opportunities for enhancement and/or efficiency improvement.
7. Challenge, support, and contribute to judgmental decisions impacting financial reporting within Business Finance.
8. Support both Business Finance and Controllership in successfully closing the ledgers accurately & on-time each financial close.
9. Manage the process of periodically reviewing ASC606 checklists for new contracts, ensuring correct assumptions for revenue recognition.
10. Assist the Financial Reporting Team within Controllership with explanations for variances in the balance sheet flux analysis (a key SOX control).
11. Manage the revenue analytics process (a compensating SOX control over revenue) ensuring it is completed by the stated deadlines and all findings are reported to Business Finance leadership.
12. Assist the Head of Reporting and UK&I Controller in completing quarterly reporting to Group, including but not limited to; the technical questionnaire, non-GAAP reporting disclosures, SAB99 submission and S302 return.
13. In conjunction with the other sub-segment Financial Controller, take ownership for delivery of the Group and Statutory audits by the required internal & external / statutory deadlines.
14. Ensure that the Business Partnering team pre-audit any deliverables before they are provided to the auditors so that send back rates and follow-up questions are minimal.
Person Specification
1. ACA or ACCA qualified accountant or equivalent.
2. Technically strong on accounting standards.
3. Good working knowledge of ASC 606 Revenue Recognition.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Big 4 external audit experience is preferable.
6. Ability to explain technical issues in a simple, succinct and understandable way.
7. Team leadership is desirable.
