Lecturer - Full time starting salary is normally in the range of £48,039 to £57,797 per annum with potential progression to £70,000 per annum
Senior Lecturer - Full time starting salary is normally in the range of £60,099 to £69,505 per annum with potential progression to £85,000 per annum
The Centre for Defence Management and Leadership (CDML) acts as a centre of excellence in the field of Leadership, Management, and Strategy. The centre provides educational courses, training and consultancy in Leadership; Management; Diplomacy, Organisational Behaviour, Change, and Strategy.
About the Role
This role will supplement the current expertise within CDML and you will be expected to assist in the development of teaching and consultancy interests of CDML and scholarly activity both nationally and internationally.
You will be responsible for the development and delivery of high-quality teaching at postgraduate level within Leadership, Management and Strategy, as well as being actively involved in the promotion, development, management and delivery of post graduate level courses.
Specifically:
* Undertaking teaching preparation, teaching, development, support and management
* Planning and reviewing own approach to teaching and contributing to the design or revision of courses and short courses
* Student supervision
* Provide expert advice to other staff and students in own specialist areas
* Undertaking consultancy and scholarship
* Identifying and developing consultancy, private venture and scholarship opportunities, proposals and funding bids in the field of Leadership, management and Strategy.
At Senior Lecturer level, we expect the candidate to provide leadership, such as in course management, business development, preparing large funding bids and acting as a Principal Investigator on large, funded research projects.
About You
You will have an MSc in a topic related to Defence and Security, or an MBA, and significant experience in the field of defence and security gained whilst serving in a senior role in the police, military, security services or diplomatic services.
You will have substantial experience in academia and appropriate teaching experience within the leadership, organisational psychology/behaviour fields or political science field. You will also have work experience within the Defence or wider security sectors of the UK or an allied state.
Additionally for a Senior Lecturer, you will have Course Director experience at undergraduate or Masters level, extensive professional experience with a substantial reputation in your research field. You will have substantial contributions in teaching, leadership and management.
It is essential you have a willingness to work overseas in regions including the Middle East, Europe and Africa for approximately eight weeks per year.
