The Firm
A prestigious law firm with over 150 years of history and multiple offices in London, Leeds, Birmingham, and Colchester, is seeking a Compliance Coordinator to join their Compliance Department. This firm delivers comprehensive legal services across England and Wales, representing a broad range of clients from multi-national corporations to charities, housing associations, and regulators. The Role
As a Compliance Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the firm’s Compliance Department, working closely with the Head of Compliance and Senior Compliance Advisor. Based in the firm’s London office, this role involves a range of responsibilities that are crucial to maintaining high standards in compliance and regulatory matters.
Main Responsibilities
* AML/CDD Checks : Conducting Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Client Due Diligence (CDD) processes across a range of sectors and jurisdictions, implementing Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols.
* Lexcel Compliance : Assisting with Lexcel Independent File Reviews, Lexcel Annual Maintenance, and the firm’s annual CQS re-accreditation.
* Training Oversight : Supporting the firm’s online training platform and monitoring staff completion rates to ensure firm-wide compliance awareness.
* Due Diligence and Risk Management : Performing checks on new and existing counterparties to identify potential risks and ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
* Conflict Resolution : Analysing conflict search results to identify any potential legal or commercial conflicts.
* Compliance Training : Assisting in setting up and managing online compliance training sessions across the firm.
* General Support : Serving as a professional point of contact for compliance-related queries and maintaining high standards of client service.
Person Specification
* A degree-level education or above.
* Experience working in a law firm
* Familiarity with Lexcel standards is ideal but not mandatory; as well as experience with compliance software such as Partner for Windows
* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and pdf applications (Adobe, pdfDocs, or Foxit)
* A proactive, detail-oriented approach to tasks, with a calm and adaptable nature.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
* Experience liaising with various stakeholders and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
* Knowledge of client onboarding regulations, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Client Due Diligence (CDD), and conflict checks.
