We invite a committed, self-motivated podiatrist to join our team who has excellent organisational skills and can lead the podiatry musculoskeletal (MSK) team within Buckinghamshire. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop our Advanced MSK clinic and learn how to use and evaluate results when using our RS Scanner.
You must have extensive knowledge treating patients with complex MSK needs and will be required to develop your clinical skills as well as supporting others to develop theirs. This would be via placements or workshops to maintain and advance the staff's MSK knowledge.
You will work with other Podiatry Clinical Leads and have the opportunity to develop your management skills, as well as supporting the Head of Service to develop MSK podiatry pathways.
The post holder will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as enthusiasm for contributing to the service provided by this Integrated Trust. Our team meets monthly for staff meetings and clinical reasoning sessions and you would be required to take an active part in these sessions.
There will be opportunity to participate in regular nail surgery sessions.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder will provide professional and clinical leadership on the strategic development, planning and operational delivery of the podiatry MSK service in primary and secondary settings in Buckinghamshire.
* The post holder will act as a source of expertise to use biomechanical knowledge and skills in the holistic assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex musculoskeletal conditions.
* The post holder will deliver evidence-based podiatry interventions and advice that will reduce the need for acute interventions and thereby contribute to the maintenance of patient mobility and independence.
* The post holder will work closely with the Head of Service, other Podiatry Leads and other HCP's to ensure the provision of a high quality and equitable service across the County.
* The post holder will work closely with the Musculoskeletal High-Risk Lead and Rheumatology Lead to develop treatment planning, off-loading and risk prevention in the care of "high-risk" patients.
* To work as an effective member of the Podiatry Service, adhering to Service, Trust and HCPC policies, strategies and objectives.
Person Specification
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
* B Sc (Hons) with Local Anaesthesia Certificate
* Diploma level Specialist training or equivalent
* Experience of Leadership/Management
* Evidence of CPD and post graduate training
* Member of the Royal College of Podiatrists
EXPERIENCE
* Significant post graduate experience and competence of treating a wide range of patients including complex MSK conditions
* Experience of ESP including x-ray interpretation, MRI
* Excellent assessment skills to determine treatment plans and discharge pathways
* Experience of triaging and onward referral
* IT skills to aid computer entry requirements and e-mail communication
* Experience of staff management and team development
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
* Up-to-date knowledge of defined service area including current issues in the MSK field
* Excellent organisational skills to manage own caseload and those within the workshops
* Able to understand the importance of accurate documentation and IG issues
* Excellent communication skills to engage with patients and colleagues
* Flexible approach must be able to work as a team member but also as an autonomous practitioner
* Ability to analyse and interpret complex and varied information in order to identify issues and develop solutions
