To be a key member of the spinal team and deliver consistent high quality care to patients who present with spinal pain or pathologies. Adapting to the changing demands of a busy service. There is a requirement to use autonomous decision making skills on a regular basis.
Exercise evidence based nursing intervention with clinical support and supervision from the team pertaining to patients with spinal pain and pathologies.
Undertake training to clinically assess patients and perform interventional procedures as necessary.
Participate in nurse led clinics under the supervision of the Multi-disciplinary team.
Be responsible for the assessment of care needs, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care in consultation with the Specialist Nursing team.
Demonstrate empathy and offer information and support for patients at diagnosis and throughout their journey.
Be actively involved in formal/informal educational programmes to qualified nursing staff and students.
Actively participate in the promotion of health education and prevention of illness.
Linking in with the multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care.
Follow department, Trust policy, and contribute to the development of nursing policy.
Communicate effectively with external and internal agencies.
Demonstrate commitment to IWL principles and flexible working patterns, to meet the needs of the service and staff.
The post holder is expected to participate in all aspects of the patient pathway as appropriate and will be expected to perform delegated duties with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge. There is an expectation to act under their own initiative based on their training and current national and local guidelines.
The post holder will provide care including history taking, clinical assessment, treatment and evaluation of care. This will be under the guidance of a multi-disciplinary team.
To provide strong leadership skills and to act as a senior professional role model at all times, sharing skills and knowledge.
To integrate into clinical teams, communicating effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
To monitor clinical outcomes and patient experience.
To provide a teaching and education service to students as appropriate.
