This is a hands-on role that requires a strong leader who can influence at all levels. You will be responsible for shaping and implementing SHEQ strategies, supporting managers in maintaining safe systems of work, and ensuring compliance with environmental permits and regulations. From investigating incidents to coaching colleagues on best practices, you will be central to embedding a culture where safety and continuous improvement go hand in hand. If you thrive in a fast-paced, industrial environment, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact. What You Will Be Doing As a SHEQ Manager, you will work closely with teams across the organisation to ensure our sites operate safely and efficiently. You will support the development of safe working practices, ensuring compliance with both company policies and external regulations. A key part of your role will be to challenge and coach colleagues at all levels, driving improvements in behaviour, systems, and procedures. Accident and near-miss investigations will be a critical part of your responsibilities, working alongside managers to understand root causes and prevent future incidents. You will also liaise with external bodies, including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Environment Agency (EA), as well as insurers and suppliers, ensuring regulatory requirements are met and best practices are implemented. Beyond compliance, you will play an active role in fostering a strong safety culture. This will involve leading cross-functional health and safety meetings, mentoring colleagues in their specific HSE roles, and developing plans that drive continuous improvement. You will also be responsible for monitoring and analysing safety performance, using data to identify trends, enhance reporting, and drive measurable improvements in SHEQ standards. About You To be successful in this role, you will need a strong background in health, safety, and environmental management, ideally within an industrial, processing, or manufacturing environment. You will hold a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Health & Safety, along with an environmental qualification such as AIEMA or NEBOSH Environmental. A qualification in H&S auditing or training would also be beneficial. You are a fast-paced and persistent individual who embraces change and is relentless in seeking new opportunities for improvement. Your ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels will be essential, as will your strong organisational and mentoring skills. You thrive in a fast-moving environment, balancing attention to detail with the ability to drive strategic change. Experience leading and motivating teams is essential, as is the ability to provide practical, risk-based solutions to real-world challenges. Time management, resilience, and the confidence to challenge existing practices will all contribute to your success in this role. If you are looking for an opportunity where you can make a meaningful difference to safety, compliance, and operational excellence, we would love to hear from you.
