Your future role We are seeking an experienced Project Supply Chain Manager with a strong background in automation to lead the supply chain operations at our Crewe Facility. The primary focus of this role is to ensure consistent material availability and manage inventory within budget, achieving a 99% material availability rate to support our growing facility and its overhaul projects. Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Head of POM (Parts Overhauls & Modernisation), you will manage a team of 40 staff across MRP Material Planning, Expediting, and Stores, ensuring that our supply chain operations are streamlined, efficient, and cost-effective. We’ll look to you for: Material Availability & Budget Management: Ensure 99% material availability for all ongoing and upcoming overhaul projects, minimising downtime and ensuring uninterrupted production. Manage inventory levels in line with budgetary constraints and inventory reductions, optimising stock to balance availability with cost-efficiency. Proactively monitor inventory levels, demand forecasts, and supply chain risks to anticipate and prevent material shortages or overstocking. Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 40 staff across MRP Planning, Expediting, and Stores at the Crewe Facility. Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting open communication, teamwork, and a shared commitment to achieving material availability and budgetary goals. Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the team. Supply Chain Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement supply chain strategies that prioritize material availability and budget management, aligned with the goals of the Crewe Overhaul Facility and company objectives. Oversee the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process, ensuring accurate demand forecasting and inventory management specific to overhaul projects. Coordinate closely with project managers and the Head of POM to align supply chain activities with project timelines, deliverables, and budgetary requirements. Automation & Process Optimization: Utilise automation tools and technologies to streamline supply chain processes, with a focus on improving material availability, efficiency, and cost control. Lead initiatives to integrate and enhance automation in inventory management, procurement, and logistics operations, ensuring timely material delivery within budget. Expediting & Vendor Management: Ensure timely procurement of materials and components, coordinating with vendors and suppliers to meet the specific needs of the Crewe Facility's projects. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring high-quality service tailored to the facility's requirements. Work closely with vendors to expedite the delivery of critical items and scale supply capabilities in line with the facility's growth and budget constraints. Inventory & Stores Management: Oversee inventory control processes, ensuring optimal stock levels to support material availability goals while adhering to budget limits. Implement best practices for warehouse and stores management, ensuring safety, efficiency, and accuracy in material handling at the Crewe Facility. Monitor and improve inventory accuracy through regular audits and continuous process improvement, balancing inventory levels with budgetary targets. Reporting & Analytics: Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) specifically focused on material availability, inventory versus budget, and overall supply chain performance. Provide regular reports and updates to the Head of POM and senior management on material availability, budget performance, supply chain risks, and opportunities for improvement. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements in all supply chain activities. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, developing contingency plans to address potential disruptions, particularly in the context of material availability and budget management. Proven experience managing large teams, with excellent leadership, resilience, communication, and interpersonal skills. In-depth knowledge of MRP systems, inventory management, procurement, and logistics. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and implement process improvements. Experience working in a fast paced project-based environment, particularly in an overhaul or manufacturing setting, is a plus. Certification in Project management (e.g., APICS, CSCP,PRINCE2) is desirable Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced supply chain management software is desirable Strong negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
