Teaching Personnel is looking for dedicated Psychology Graduates to join our team as 1:1 Teaching Assistants in mainstream schools.
In this rewarding role, you will provide tailored support to a student with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and some behavioural challenges, helping them thrive in the classroom and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
Personalised Support: Provide 1:1 assistance to a student, ensuring they receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially.
Collaborative Approach: Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to create and implement strategies that best support the student’s learning and development.
Adaptability: Be resilient and flexible in your approach, adjusting to the needs of the student and the school environment throughout the day.
Positive Impact: Use your understanding of psychology to make a meaningful impact on the student's emotional and academic growth.
Behavioural Management: Support the student in managing challenging behaviours by applying proven techniques and strategies.
Relationship Building: Foster trusting and supportive relationships with the student, their family, and school staff, ensuring the student's wellbeing is at the heart of everything you do.
While prior professional experience with children with ALN ) is beneficial, we welcome applications from individuals with personal experience.
Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Newport
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 15:30
Pay: Minimum £12.90 per hour
Qualifications for a Successful 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
Possession of a Child-Only DBS certificate registered on the Update Service.
Provision of two professional references covering the past 24 months.

This school is based in Newport and is easily accessible via public transport. They have around 600 pupils. They have two dedicated class bases to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
