The Manor House Roundhay is our brand new 65 bed, state-of-the-art care home, set to open in October 2024.

*** Please note: This role is to start early October 2024 in preparation for the home opening late October 2024 ***

Hours: 40 hours per week over 4 days

At The Manor House Roundhay we make the most of mealtimes. Anchor has won national recognition for the quality of our food and catering service, and with ambient dining areas throughout the home, mealtimes are integral to the happiness and well-being of our residents.

As a highly skilled chef you will use seasonal ingredients to create appetising, freshly cooked and nutritionally balanced food with an emphasis on variety and choice.

Our residents are first and foremost when it comes to deciding on the food that we provide and through open communication with the residents and residents' families you will learn the meals that they love and support the Chef Manager in creating and cooking menus that reflect these. You will get to know their likes and dislikes, catering for any special dietary requirements. We all have strong memories associated with certain recipes, foods, specific meals and for The Manor House Roundhay, it’s vital that the food we serve reflects this.

Reporting into the Chef Manager, responsibilities will include:

* Deputising for the Chef Manager, managing every aspect of catering within the location and delivering a quality catering service.
* Supervising the catering assistants on shift.
* Maintaining compliance with food safety and health & safety procedures.
* To minimise waste when preparing meals and use equipment correctly.

Required knowledge & experience:

* Intermediate or level 3 food hygiene certificate with Cater craft or similar award.
* Health & safety legislation including control of substances harmful to health (COSHH) and food safety standards.
* Proven chef and people management experience.
* Basic knowledge of dietary requirements relating to older people.
* Safe use of kitchen equipment including knives.

Required skills:

* Able to negotiate, influence, organize time and prioritise activities.
* Able to work in a pressured environment and produce meals based on implemented menus.
* Flexible, innovative and able to work as part of a team and individually.

Please note all applicants must already hold the legal right to work in the UK.

Anchor is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We are proud to have an LGBT+ resident group, and also BAME, LGBT+ and Disabled colleague networks. These work closely with the organisation to celebrate diversity, address concerns, review policy and practice and empower their members. We recruit, train and promote without discrimination on the basis of race, religion, colour, sex or gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or other protected status. One of our values is ‘respect’, therefore we do not accept harassment or discrimination from any colleague, resident or third party.
