Salary: From £17.00 per hour + Overtime Paid at Time and a Half & Double Time
Working Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week (with occasional nights away)
About the Role
We are seeking HGV Class 1 Wagon & Drag Drivers to join our established clients operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting Durabase Matting to customer sites across the UK, as well as installing and recovering the mats on projects. This role requires a commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to operate a W&D and a HIAB crane.
You will play a crucial role in delivering a high-class service, ensuring that mats are transported safely and efficiently. This role will involve occasional nights away in your truck (not shared) and offers opportunities for overtime and career development within the company.
Your Responsibilities
* Safely operate HGV Class 1 Wagon & Drag vehicles to transport Durabase Matting and other plant equipment.
* Ensure the safe loading, unloading, and secure transport of mats to customer project sites.
* Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring the vehicle is in good working condition.
* Maintain accurate delivery logs and required documentation.
* Adhere to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
* Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members about delivery schedules and any potential delays.
* Assist with installing and removing mats at customer sites, adhering to health and safety procedures.
* Ensure the load is properly secured using ratchet straps.
* Report any vehicle issues or concerns promptly.
* Work as part of a team to ensure smooth operations and high-quality service delivery.
What We Need From You
* HGV Class 1 licence (essential).
* HIAB experience with ALLMI card preferred (training can be provided for the right candidate).
* CSCS card desirable but not essential (full training provided).
* Must be willing and able to work away from home during the week (in all weather conditions).
* Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights away, and sometimes weekends.
* Ability to operate heavy equipment (crane) or willing to be trained.
* Experience with securing loads using ratchet straps.
* Construction, Transmission & Distribution experience preferred.
* Must be reliable, trustworthy, and a good timekeeper with strong initiative.
* Must be able to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug/alcohol screen/physical.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
