An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated safeguarding and nursing leader to join the Health Board's Corporate Nursing team. The post holder will provide leadership and direction for safeguarding people across the geographical footprint of the Health Board and will work in partnership with statutory partners and other agencies to achieve the best outcomes for the residents of Hywel Dda University Health Board.
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity in your safeguarding leadership career. As our Head of Safeguarding, reporting to the Assistant Director of Nursing, Assurance and Safeguarding, you will provide expert safeguarding leadership at all levels of the organisation. You will lead and manage our Health Board wide looked after children, safeguarding children and adult teams.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
* Advise the Assistant Director of Nursing, Executive Nurse Director, Executive team members, and CEO on safeguarding children, adult, and public protection matters to ensure the Health Board fulfills its responsibilities for safeguarding children and adults.
* Lead on our contribution to the work of the Regional Safeguarding Board, NHS Wales Safeguarding Network, and subgroups, ensuring the organisation plays a full role in the development and delivery of partnership and improvement plans.
* Lead the planning and development of Safeguarding across the whole Health Board to ensure that it is best provided to meet the developing needs of the service. This will include integrated medium-term strategic planning which will involve analysis of internal, multi-agency, local, regional, and national safeguarding and public protection data and trends and horizon scanning.
* Provide expert advice and knowledge to all services across the Health Board on Safeguarding matters including advice on matters related to persons in a position of trust in relation to the wider public protection role.
* Ensure that the safeguarding team provides support, safeguarding supervision, and training to all staff involved with vulnerable people and those at risk of abuse and neglect.
* Provide specialist safeguarding advice on HR issues, which may include allegations against persons in a position of trust and complaints about staff concerning children/adults in line with national guidance.
