Curriculum, staffing and resources
This is an exciting opportunity to join and lead a successful Modern Foreign Languages Department where French, Spanish and German are taught by committed subject specialists. All students study one language until the end of Year 9 when they are given the opportunity to pursue it to GCSE level. All classes are taught in mixed ability groups. We follow the AQA syllabus at Key Stage 4. Students can pursue all 3 languages at A Level, also following the AQA syllabus, through our membership of the local Sixth Form collegiate.
The MFL curriculum at Park High is designed to empower students with the ability and desire to communicate confidently in the target language with accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation fulfilling the ambitious demands of the National Curriculum. We recognise that these fundamental skills will prepare students to compete globally and when they leave school, achieve ‘bright futures.’ The department continue to develop the curriculum and assessments which prepare students for the challenges of GCSE and beyond. Students follow a coherent curriculum which allows them to continuously revisit and build on previous language learnt. With a high profile across the school, the department has consistently demonstrated its ability to engage students through dynamic and thought-provoking lessons that challenge their understanding of the language they are learning. Through our commitment to both academic rigour and holistic development, the MFL department continues to be a cornerstone of the school’s ethos and acts as a driving force in shaping well-rounded, responsible citizens.
