Learning Support Assistant – Special Educational Needs (SEN) | Autism Specialism
Location: Long Eaton, NG10
Hours: Full-time, Term Time Only
Contract: Temporary with potential for permanent
Salary: £90–£100 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you have experience working with young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)? We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a warm, inclusive SEN school that caters for students aged 2–19 with a range of complex learning needs.
The Role:
You will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to support students in accessing education in a way that works for them. Many pupils are on the autism spectrum and require calm, consistent, and nurturing support to thrive in a structured environment. The role involves 1:1 support as well as small group work, contributing to both academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing individualised support to students with ASC and other complex needs
* Assisting with classroom activities and adapting materials as needed
* Supporting students with communication, emotional regulation, and behaviour
* Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to pupil progress reports
Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working in an SEN or ASC-specific setting is highly desirable
* A calm, empathetic, and patient nature
* Understanding of communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC systems (desirable but not essential)
* Team Teach or other positive behaviour training (desirable)
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
