Design Manager
Location: Bristol or Exeter

Are you a Design Manager looking for a new opportunity? A water sector leading solutions provider is seeking a Design Manager to join their Engineering team, based at their Exeter or Bristol offices, with hybrid working available.
In the Design Manager role, you will lead projects through their design phases, ensuring cost-effective, technically compliant, and buildable solutions are delivered in line with stakeholder requirements, project timelines, and engineering procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Promote excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, ensuring full compliance with relevant regulations and legislation.
2. Identify and manage H&S hazards, ensuring that all residual risks are effectively communicated to stakeholders.
3. Lead the Design Team to achieve project objectives and meet customer requirements.
4. Manage project design budgets, ensuring efficiency and adherence to financial targets.
5. Oversee design planning, documentation, and progress reporting.
6. Participate in programme, project, and technical meetings, contributing to strategic decision-making.
7. Ensure technical solutions are cost-effective, high-quality, and delivered on schedule.
8. Provide technical support during construction, assembly, and commissioning stages.
9. Maintain compliance with industry standards, quality assurance processes, and sustainability targets.
10. Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
Candidate Requirements
1. Extensive experience in multi-disciplinary design management within a design-build environment.
2. Degree in an engineering-related discipline.
3. APM Project Fundamentals Qualification.
4. Proven ability to deliver large-scale projects, managing time, cost, and quality.
5. Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and construction Health & Safety.
6. Expertise in strategic, operational, and technical project management.
7. General knowledge of water treatment processes, civil, and MEICA engineering.
8. Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical proposals clearly and confidently.
9. Experience in a design and build organisation is desirable.
10. Experience in the Water Treatment Industry would be advantageous.
11. Understanding of BIM procedures and techniques is a plus.
