Job overview
We are seeking to appoint a Ward Clerk to provide reception and clerical support to Allerton ward and assist in maintaining a high standard of record keeping at ward level.
You will need to be organised & able to communicate with patients, visitors and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
* Answering the telephone
* Arranging for notes to come to the ward, filing notes after discharge
* Ensuring notes are sent to the correct area after discharge
* Supporting the MDT in clerical roles
* Ordering stationary and equipment
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To provide reception service for all patients and visitors to Allerton ward.
* To ensure that all discharge summaries are completed and sent out in line with Trust Policy.
* To request and collect case notes as necessary and ensure they are available for the MDT.
* Distribute incoming post and redirect as necessary.
* To keep the nurses station tidy and maintain levels of stationary.
* Ensure the day to day maintenance of patients case notes, including the insertion of investigations reports, filing plans/nursing notes ensuring all contents are filed strictly in accordance with the current protocol and ensure results are available in a timely fashion.
* To ensure patients/admissions/clinic appointments and outcomes and transfer details are accurate and up to date to the computer systems.
* Clerical support for the Senior sister.
* Be able to use computer systems, photocopy and scan and order equipment and stationary.
Person specification
Experience
* Experience in similar clerical role
* 4 GCSE's or equivalent level of education
* ECDL or equivalent
* Knowledge of Medical Records
* Experience in using Unit 4 ordering System
* Knowledge of PAS
