Astute's Nuclear team is retained by a global engineering and design manufacture leader working in heavily regulated industries such as nuclear. They develop sensors and instrumentation and control solutions for harsh environments and mission critical applications when safety and reliability matter. They are recruiting a Senior Quality Engineer out of their Wimborne office on a full time basis.
The Senior Quality Engineer will lead and support the creation, implementation and maintenance of quality requirements and audit/monitor the products and processes to ensure compliance. It comes with a salary up to £45,000 per annum, and a wide range of great benefits.

Responsibilities and Duties
Reporting to the Quality Manager you will:
1. Lead the non-conformance process, ensuring that non-conformances are recorded and dealt with effectively and in a timely manner.
2. Conduct scheduled external supplier, internal, project, product and process audits in support of the business management system audit program.
3. Host/support customer and third party, regulatory and statutory audits as required for the business, including any source inspection activities.
4. Be the primary focal point for technical quality oversight of the contract review process.
5. Lead PFMEA activities with cross functional teams as required.
6. Facilitate and assist Project Managers with the creation, implementation and maintenance of Quality Plans.
7. Conduct document reviews in relation to projects, as required.
8. Support design reviews as required.
9. Monitor supplier performance and assist with reporting in vendor review meetings, target actions for supply chain development, as required.
Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
1. Educated to BTEC/ONC Level or Equivalent as a minimum, or adequate Quality Engineering experience.
Personal Skills
The Senior Quality Engineer role would suit someone who is:
1. Previous experience in a Quality Assurance related position will be essential.
2. Familiarity with BS EN ISO 9001.
3. Sound knowledge of Quality management principles and techniques within a manufacturing environment, including a working knowledge of non-conformance management principles and problem solving techniques.
4. Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings, including an understanding of tolerances, geometric tolerances and weld symbols.
5. Prior experience and good understanding of metrology techniques required for the inspection of precision mechanical components.
6. Competent user of Microsoft Office Excel and Word; experience of PowerPoint and Visio.
7. Experience of using ERP systems.
