About the role
The Operations Manager is a key leadership position in the Department of Nephrology and RMH Kidney Care, one of the largest Nephrology and Dialysis services in Australia. The role works in partnership with the Director Renal Services to ensure effective management and operations of the Nephrology Department and RMH Kidney Care service. The role will lead the development and implementation of strategies to optimise clinical service delivery and patient access, with a focus on providing optimal patient experience and achievement of key performance indicators, financial and activity targets.
In addition, the Operations Manager is also jointly responsible for delivering on key quality, safety and service delivery outcomes of the hub and spoke model including Ballarat, Mildura, Wodonga regional sites and 23 affiliated dialysis regional units. Fostering collaborative working relations with RMH Kidney Care and its affiliated partners is essential for this role.
This role encompasses professional and operational responsibilities for all nurses and the multidisciplinary team in RMH Renal Services: Acute dialysis unit 6 West, Satellite Dialysis units; Coburg, Essendon Fields, John Perrett, and the Home Dialysis Unit and dialysis services through hub and spoke model including Ballarat, Mildura and Wodonga regional sites and 23 affiliated dialysis regional units.
About the Department
RMH Renal Services encompass the interrelated departments of RMH Kidney Care, including Nephrology, Transplantation, Dialysis, and Nephrology Surgery. RMH Kidney Care provides a comprehensive clinical and state-wide referral service for patients with kidney disease and kidney failure, with outpatient clinics, outreach clinics and in-patient services based at Parkville. Treatment options include home haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, satellite dialysis, transplantation and supportive care.
The RMH Kidney Care dialysis program provides care to over 560 dialysis patients throughout Victoria and into southern NSW. The dialysis program operates through a hub and spoke model, offering an integrated kidney failure service across 25 sites and 130 homes; and provides care for patients throughout the CKD continuum from registration until transplantation or end of life.
The highly successful kidney transplant service based at The Royal Melbourne Hospital is a national leader in transplant technology, research and outcomes. Our key leadership activities include ABO incompatible and highly sensitised transplantation, pre-emptive and live donor programs, complex transplantation and keyhole donor surgery. In addition, RMH also hosts the Australian and New Zealand Paired Kidney Exchange program (ANZKX). The Nephrology Surgery team works closely with the Nephrology, Transplant and Dialysis groups to enable successful kidney transplantation for many, timely dialysis access creation for those who require peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis and other nephrology procedures such as parathyroid surgery to manage or prevent complications of kidney failure.
Our Ideal Candidate
* Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
* Demonstrated experience and success working in an operational leadership role, and an understanding of health services and service delivery objectives
* Leadership experience in managing a team
* Extensive clinical nursing experience in relevant health service
* Demonstrated experience collaborating and leading change with clinical teams and leaders.
* Comprehensive understanding of innovative service delivery models and frameworks.
* Strong business and financial acumen with solid budget management and funding experience.
* Post graduate qualification in healthcare/business management or working towards the same
* Experience in Renal Medicine
