The role will encompass word processing, typesetting, creation of accurate art and graphics materials and to quality assure materials following predetermined styles. You will work across teams from document design, graphics and proof reading to accurately typeset assessment materials across a range of subjects and levels. The work will include using an Apple/Macintosh equipment, running a range of DTP and Graphics software.

Main purpose of Job:
To accurately typeset assessment materials across a range of subjects and levels. The work will include using an Apple/Macintosh equipment, running a range of DTP and Graphics software. The role will encompass word processing, typesetting, creation of accurate art and graphics materials and to quality assure materials following predetermined styles. The role will also follow an apprenticeship scheme that on completion will result in the role holder achieving a Level 2 Diploma in User Centred Design.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Using DTP and Graphics software and agreed templates, set up error free assessment materials.
• To typeset assessment materials as per house style, importing images, artwork, maps, graphs, texts, etc. as appropriate.
• To create original artwork based on briefs, using creative and technical skills in a variety of design and drawing software packages.
• To be responsible for proof checking assessment materials for spelling mistakes, typographical errors, errors in punctuation, grammatical errors, and ensuring that house styles are maintained.
• To ensure that work is produced accurately, reviewing as necessary and making amendments before passing to the next stage of development, in accordance with established procedures.
• To liaise with Assessment Materials Officers, Document Designer Team Leader, Graphics Team Leader, Proof Reading Team Leader and other WJEC staff, as appropriate on the development of assessment materials.
• To maintain accurate records of all assessment material development stages, updating the question paper management system (QPMS) as appropriate.
• To complete revisions, ensuring that all issues highlighted by reviewers have been addressed and that the checks are recorded appropriately
• To understand the process for development of mark schemes using Microsoft packages and contribute to the support of the generation of these documents in Microsoft Word
• To maintain the confidentiality of assessment materials and to declare any conflicts of interest to the Head of Assessment Materials Unit as appropriate.
• Contribute and support new ways of working with the aim of producing error free question papers.
• To understand and comply with all WJEC policies and procedures detailed in the Staff Handbook; in particular, ensuring you understand your role and responsibilities in relation to Safeguarding, Information Security, GDPR, Confidentiality, Welsh language and Health, Safety and Environment.
• Participate actively in supporting the principles and practice of equality of opportunity as laid down in WJEC’s Equality & Diversity Policy, embedding ED&I into all projects, policies and practices.
