Summary: Our tyre fitter is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of vehicle tyres. This includes diagnosing issues, ensuring proper fitting and balancing, and advising customers on tyre-related matters. The role typically requires technical knowledge, good manual dexterity, and a customer-focused attitude. Specific Responsibilities/Tasks: Daily General housekeeping of workspace’s, keeping to the required plant standard. Carry out tasks set daily by workshop manager, to ensure all planned and unplanned works are completed within the required workshop SLA’s. Ensure the completion of all relevant paperwork such as; Job Cards, part requests, and inspection reports ensuring all information is accurate, and submitted daily by 5pm. Ensure daily operations of Doocey Group Plant and Fleet Department is providing services to match customer service requirement. Ensure all plant and vehicle works to be completed is in line with Doocey Group requirements, and within required Plant SLA’s. Ensure all vehicles and plant equipment is fit for purpose, and of the required Doocey Group standards. Ensure that M & A Doocey Plant Hire Ltd is run in a professional and efficient manner. Identify and propose ideas and opportunities within the Company to maximise profitability. Manage unplanned work resulting from breakdowns and emergencies. Ensuring they are dealt with in efficient manner by prioritising as required for the provision of a 24-hour callout service. Ensure the disposal of used tyres and other waste materials, is done so, responsibly. Tyre Fitting and Replacement Inspecting vehicles to identify worn, damaged, or punctured tyres. Removing worn or damaged tyres using specialised tools and equipment. Fitting new tyres and ensuring they are the correct size and type for the vehicle. Balancing wheels to prevent vibrations and ensure smooth vehicle operation. Tyre Repair Repairing punctures and minor damages using industry-approved methods. Assessing whether a tyre can be repaired or needs replacement. Ensuring all repairs comply with safety standards. Wheel Alignment and Balancing Performing wheel alignment checks and adjustments to prevent uneven tyre wear and improve handling. Using balancing machines to ensure tyres rotate evenly and minimise vibrations. Stock Management Keeping track of tyre stock, including different sizes and types. Ordering tyres and related equipment as needed. Ensuring the workshop is well-stocked with tools and supplies. Health and Safety Compliance Following all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensuring compliance with UK regulations on tyre disposal and environmental standards. Reporting any hazards or accidents in the workplace. Administrative Duties Keeping records of tyre services performed. Handling payments and providing invoices or receipts to customers. Scheduling customer appointments and managing time effectively. Weekly Submit own timesheet by 9am every Monday, ensuring information input it correct and accurate, to ensure pay is correct. Monthly Participate in the standby rota, to ensure an engineer is always available, to ensure cover is readily available. Adhoc Attend various work sites to repair defects as and when required. Attend mandatory training courses as defined within the company training matrix. Keep up to date with legislation and record ‘Continued Professional Development’ (CPD). Qualifications & Training: Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Desired but not essential). GCSE’s Grade 9-4 or equivalent. NVQ Level 2 in Vehicle Fitting or equivalent (Preferred). Full UK driving licence (Required). Technical Skills & Experience: Extensive experience within same role, or similar within the civil engineering sector. Self-driven, results-oriented, with a ‘can do’ attitude without compromising safety and/or compliance. Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including employees, management, regulatory agencies, and the community.
