Job Description:
Somerset Bridge Group are looking for a Catastrophic Injury Claims Handler to manage a caseload of claims of the utmost severity.
Due to growth in the team, we are looking for someone who has extensive experience within the motor claims industry and regularly manages claims under their own authority in excess of £2.5m.
Our team is based in Newcastle, with hybrid working available.
Responsibilities include:
* Proactively manage a portfolio of high value/catastrophic Injury claims in excess of £2.5m from first notification to achieve an optimal settlement.
* Develop technical claims skills within the team through coaching, mentoring, and training.
* Ensure all new and reallocated claims are reserved promptly.
* Maintain and enhance insurer and reinsurer confidence by handling cases with technical excellence.
* Serve as a technical referral point.
* Conduct audits of legal suppliers.
* Ensure reserving accuracy with new information.
Relevant skills, experience, and abilities:
* Substantial experience in settling catastrophic injury claims.
* Ability to handle claims involving head & brain injuries, amputations, serious spinal injuries, fatal accidents, complex care, and loss of earnings calculations.
* Knowledge of CPR and multi-track litigation.
* Negotiation skills for legal costs.
* Experience with CRU, appeals, and review processes.
* Familiarity with RTA/Article 75/MIB procedures.
* Flexibility to travel within the UK for meetings and trials.
* Relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders.
* Understanding of reinsurance practices.
* Experience in working with market bodies or industry groups is preferred.
* ACII qualification or progress towards it is desirable.
