We have an exciting opportunity for a Cook to join our fantastic team to deliver a quality food service that meets the individual needs of the people we support. We are looking for an experienced Cook to work in our new Residential Service in Pontardawe.
Roles and Responsibilities
You will be working from Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work. Working hours can vary depending of the needs of the service.
You will be required to prepare, plan and cook meals (including provision of special dietary meals where necessary).
You will work with colleagues to provide the best possible service for the people we support, ensuring their varying nutritional needs are met.
You will be responsible for implementing health and safety in the kitchen, including food hygiene, infection control and COSHH.
You will develop menus to assist with advance food planning and preparation.
You will create and maintain cooking and cleaning regimes (daily, weekly, periodically etc.) for all areas of the kitchen.
You will be responsible for ordering stock, managing food deliveries, stock rotation and maintaining an allocated budget.
You will work safely within company policies, seeking advice and guidance when necessary.
You will maintain a clean hazard free kitchen and dining area in order to minimise risks.
You will work with support staff to develop meal plans in association with individual choices and care plans.
You will ensure correct storage of all food.
You will actively engage with the people we support to ensure they are eating nutritious and appetising food and meaningful activities related to their lifestyle choices, understanding their likes/dislikes and beliefs.
The Person
You will need to demonstrate experience in meal planning and preparation.
You will have a knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
You will have experience of specialist/modified and cultural diet requirements, desirable but not essential.
You will be a caring and compassionate individual.
You will be able to work well independently or as part of a team.
You will be required to hold a food hygiene certificate or be willing to undergo training to achieve this.
You will ideally have experience of cooking in a busy environment, along with a good sound knowledge of compliance.
You will need to have had experience in being able to prioritise your workload.
You will need good communication skills and be able to keep clear and concise written records.
