Mechanical Technician Contract: PAYE Contract

Our Barrow Terminal team plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our gas terminal facilities. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Technician to join us on a 6-month sickness cover contract. The Mechanical Technician will undertake routine engineering maintenance and defect repair tasks to ensure the reliability and scheduled availability of operational plant and equipment associated with gas production, processing, and condensate storage.
Routine and Non-Routine Maintenance: Execute maintenance activities on plant and equipment in accordance with agreed procedures and operational requirements to ensure the protection of assets and safety of employees.
Technical Problem Solving: Investigate complex technical issues relating to critical plant operations, identify solutions, and implement corrective actions to restore normal service.
Prepare and present technical reports, maintaining detailed records of activities for future analysis and compliance with third-party audits.
Commissioning Activities: Carry out commissioning and decommissioning activities to ensure that plant operating schedules are achieved efficiently.
Plant Modifications: Contribute to the design and commissioning of plant modifications, including initiating and implementing recommendations to ensure continuous availability of plant and equipment.
Supervision: Oversee and guide other staff and vendor/contractor employees during specific work activities, ensuring adherence to safety and efficiency standards.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Adhere to safe working practices and procedures, ensuring that all necessary permits are in place to protect plant, equipment, and employee safety.
Experience: Proven experience in petrochemical process operations or maintenance, particularly in a gas terminal or similar high-pressure industrial environment.
A strong understanding of engineering principles to support maintenance and troubleshooting.
Safety Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the inherent hazards of gas terminal operations and the substances involved to ensure the integrity of health, safety, and environmental performance.
Crane Operation: Ability to carry out duties as a level 3 Crane Driver once suitably trained.
Emergency Response: Trained in firefighting, the use of self-contained breathing apparatus, coxswain (offshore), and first aid to actively participate in the Emergency Response Team.
