Job summary We are seeking a creative and committed Assistant Psychologist to work in Southwark CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Service. Applicants must have a first degree in psychology with eligibility for British Psychological Society Graduate Basis for Chartership, 2:1 or above. Applicants will ideally have prior clinical and research experience, including data and statistical analysis. The post-holders will gain a wide variety of experience and be supervised by a Clinical Psychologist and so these posts are highly suitable for candidates who aspire to future training in clinical psychology. Main duties of the job You will join four existing Assistant Psychologists in the wider Southwark CAMHS service (one of these is currently based part-time in the Neurodevelopmental Service) and work within the Neurodevelopmental Service. Clinical work may include individual screening appointments for neurodevelopmental difficulties, co-facilitating therapeutic groups and joint assessment and therapeutic clinical work. There will also be opportunities to contribute to service user involvement groups. Audit and contribution to service development will also be crucial aspects of the work. About us About the team The Southwark CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Service is a multi-disciplinary team including psychiatry/ neuropsychiatry, clinical psychology, family therapy, nursing and occupational therapy. We provide assessments and evidence-based therapies to children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders (moderate to profound intellectual disability, autism, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental conditions). The service provides a range of interventions including: innovative group parenting interventions for parents of children with Autism and ADHD (developed and delivered in collaboration with the internationally renowned Centre for Parent and Child Support), group interventions for children and young people addressing anxiety and emotional dysregulation, Positive Behaviour Supports (with expert external supervision), adapted CBT for mood and anxiety disorders, systemic therapy (including a regular systemic therapy clinic) and pharmacological intervention.
